Partington takes a radically different approach than traditional carbon wheel manufacturers. Instead of conventional steel spokes, continuous carbon fiber strands are used, which are connected directly to the hub and rim under constant tension. The result is an extremely stiff, precise, and at the same time surprisingly comfortable ride.
Construction & Technology
The asymmetrical 39 mm front and 44 mm rear rim is deliberately chosen: low rotational weight at the front for precise handling, maximum power transfer at the rear for efficient acceleration. The rims are optimized for modern tubeless setups and offer an excellent balance of aerodynamics, weight, and stability in crosswinds.
The carbon spoke structure operates under tension and eliminates typical weak points of classic spoke-nipple systems. This results in exceptionally high lateral stiffness with very direct feedback at the same time – particularly noticeable during sprints, out of the saddle, and in fast corners.
The hubs are minimalist, precision-engineered, and equipped with ceramic bearings. The freewheel runs extremely smoothly, and the noise level remains subtle and high-quality.
Riding Impression
On the road, the R-Series MKII impresses with a very clear, almost "mechanical" riding feel. Every power output is immediately converted without feeling nervous. Especially at high speeds, the wheel remains calm and stable, while uphill, the low overall weight is clearly noticeable. A wheelset for riders who want feedback – not filters.
